Caring can take its toll on your mind and body…

Healthcare is a great career, but without realizing it, the long hours, high physical, mental, and emotional demands, stress, exhaustion, work culture, and fast pace can wear you down. This is called compassion fatigue. Compassion Fatigue occurs after taking on the emotional and mental burdens of other’s pain, hurt, illness or grief. However, Burnout is caused by the repetitive stresses of everyday work.

In both cases, it is important that the exposure to stress, crisis, and trauma does not lead you to become apathetic. Healthcare is also a field where there is a lot of stress and these stressors can come from working long hours, having sleep-wake issues or insomnia, becoming angry or frustration from feeling unappreciated, dealing with poor management, frequent employee turnover, or your facility being short-staffed causing you to work longer and harder. It wears on you. I know, because I have been your shoes. To make matters worse healthcare workers can become desensitized by the repeated crises, traumas, and pain. Patients needs, feelings, and care, can start to become compromised. We understand that doctors, nurses, and other ancillary staff can find it hard to seek help, but just know that many are calling and you are not alone in what you are going through.

We can help. Please schedule an appointment. I have had over twenty years experience in Healthcare including: ER, Urgent Care, Cardiology, Clinical Management, and Physician Marketing. Everyone needs someone to talk to. Don’t wait too long. Schedule an appointment today. Calls are free for all healthcare workers. Call today 832-257-3778.
